SCHOLARSHIPS

It is not knowledge, but the act of learning, not possession but the act of getting there, which grants the greatest enjoyment.

The David Wolmetz Business Scholarship

In Loving Memory of Hauppauge's David Wolmetz

$1000 Scholarship for a Hauppauge Senior pursuing a Business Degree

Dave Wolmetz.jpg

David Wolmetz, a Hauppauge resident, husband, father & co owner of Urban Air passed away after complications due to his longstanding battle with Leukemia, this past June, 2023.  Dave's love of family, friends & community drove him to always be involved with a number of organizations. Dave loved his time as coach of his son and daughter's soccer team with Hauppauge Soccer League (HSL) and volunteered to serve as an HSL  Board member for a few years.  It was during this time, that he became passionate about helping the Hauppauge develop their own community park and founded the Hauppauge Recreation Development Association. In 2019, he opened  (with his best friend from elementary school as his partner), Long Island's first indoor adventure park in Lake Grove, Urban Air.

The Smithtown Children's Foundation Hauppauge chapter wanted to honor his legacy & so we have partnered with Dave's family to provide the David Wolmetz Business Scholarship for a deserving Hauppauge High School Senior.
